Fire Sprinkler Repair NJ

Fire sprinkler repair for New Jersey businesses

JT Fire & Safety repairs commercial fire sprinkler systems for businesses that have a leak, a damaged sprinkler head, corroded piping, a valve problem, or a system that is impaired. We are based in Somerville and serve Somerset County and the rest of New Jersey.

What to send with a quote request

  • The property address and someone we can reach on site
  • What you are seeing: a leak, a damaged head, a valve that will not operate, corroded pipe, or a system that has been taken out of service
  • Whether an inspection already flagged the item
  • Whether the area is accessible during business hours

What the repair includes

We find the problem and repair the conditions above: leaks, damaged sprinkler heads, corroded piping, valve issues, and other conditions that affect how the system performs. If the system is impaired, we identify the cause, coordinate the repair, and support putting the system back in service.

Common fire sprinkler system repairs

Most fire sprinkler system repair calls come down to a handful of problems. Knowing which one you have helps us plan the visit.

Damaged, painted, or leaking sprinkler heads

Heads get hit by forklifts, ladders, and stock. Some get painted over during renovations or coated with dust and corrosion. A damaged, painted, or corroded head may not open the way it was designed to, so it is replaced, not cleaned. The replacement has to match the original head’s type, temperature rating, and response characteristics.

Pipe leaks and corrosion

Pinhole leaks and weeping fittings are often a sign of corrosion inside the pipe. In dry systems, water left in low spots after a trip test or drain-down speeds that corrosion up. A single leak may only need a section of pipe or a fitting replaced. Repeated leaks in the same area are worth a closer look before more pipe fails.

Valve problems

Control valves that will not fully open or close, leaking check valves, and tamper or flow switches that send false signals all affect how the system responds. Valve issues are often flagged during inspections.

Dry pipe system issues and freeze damage

Dry pipe systems protect unheated spaces such as loading docks, attics, and parking garages. Common problems include air leaks that keep the compressor running, a dry pipe valve that trips without a fire, and frozen or burst pipe where water collected in low points. Draining the low-point drains before cold weather helps prevent freeze damage.

If your sprinkler system is out of service

An impaired sprinkler system leaves the building unprotected, so the goal is to keep the outage short. When a required system is out of service, the fire official and your insurance carrier usually need to be notified, and a fire watch may be required until the system is restored. Tell us when you call that the system is impaired, so the repair is planned around getting it back in service.

After the repair

Once the work is done, the system is put back in service and the repaired area is checked. You get documentation of what was found and what was repaired, which is useful for your insurer, the fire official, and your next inspection.

Repair vs. inspection

A repair visit fixes a specific problem. It is not a full fire sprinkler inspection, because inspection, testing, and maintenance are a separate service.

How inspection and repair fit together

A failed item on an inspection is a common reason to book this work. For the inspection itself, see our fire sprinkler inspection page.

For fire sprinkler inspection, testing, and maintenance, start with our inspection page.

Related services include fire pump inspection and backflow testing.

What changes the scope and the schedule

Scope and timing depend on where the problem is, whether the system is impaired, whether we can reach the work area, and whether the failed part is already identified. We go over the scope with you before work starts, and every repair is quoted for the specific job.

What you receive

You receive documentation of the repair work for your records.
